YW Culinary Information Session

YWCA Evanston/North Shore is proud to relaunch YW Culinary, a free, 12-week paid workforce training program: 8 weeks of intensive hands-on training, followed by 4 weeks dedicated to externships and professional development. This program is designed to prepare individuals for meaningful, sustainable careers in Chicagoland’s thriving hospitality industry. Those with no experience and entry-level are welcome!

We’ll also spotlighting upcoming hospitality hiring opportunities to connect employer partners with a diverse, motivated talent pipeline ready to work. This is a workforce solution that strengthens our local food service ecosystem.

We have two upcoming in-person information sessions.

Participants will:

  • Designed to assist participants with no prior experience, entry-level. Build foundational food service and culinary skills.

  • Learn directly from guest chefs and industry professionals

  • Assist prepping meals for Mary Lou’s Place domestic violence shelter, gaining real-world kitchen experience

  • Earn ServSafe Food Handler and ServSafe Allergen certifications.

  • Build professional skills including resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace communication

  • Access financial education workshops and Economic Advancement information

  • Receive job placement assistance and retention support

This program prepares participants for employment and long-term success.

All information sessions will take place onsite at YWCA Evanston/North Shore.
