YWCA Evanston/North Shore is proud to relaunch YW Culinary, a free, 12-week paid workforce training program: 8 weeks of intensive hands-on training, followed by 4 weeks dedicated to externships and professional development. This program is designed to prepare individuals for meaningful, sustainable careers in Chicagoland’s thriving hospitality industry. Those with no experience and entry-level are welcome!
We’ll also spotlighting upcoming hospitality hiring opportunities to connect employer partners with a diverse, motivated talent pipeline ready to work. This is a workforce solution that strengthens our local food service ecosystem.
We have two upcoming in-person information sessions.
Participants will:
Designed to assist participants with no prior experience, entry-level. Build foundational food service and culinary skills.
Learn directly from guest chefs and industry professionals
Assist prepping meals for Mary Lou’s Place domestic violence shelter, gaining real-world kitchen experience
Earn ServSafe Food Handler and ServSafe Allergen certifications.
Build professional skills including resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace communication
Access financial education workshops and Economic Advancement information
Receive job placement assistance and retention support
This program prepares participants for employment and long-term success.
