Women's History Month Film & Discussion

Using rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and reflections from fellow artists and cultural voices, this 83-minute American Masters documentary explores the life and legacy of Roberta Flack. From her classical piano training to her rise as one of the most influential vocalists of the 20th century, the film traces how her artistry reshaped popular music and gave emotional depth to songs that continue to resonate across generations.

The screening invites viewers to reflect on Flack’s groundbreaking career, her commitment to musical excellence, and the ways her work expanded representation and storytelling in American music. A community discussion will follow.

This evening discussion will be led by Roger Moreano, Senior Director of Institutional and Community Equity.
