Preventing Relationship Violence
We work to prevent relationship violence by helping young people understand what healthy relationships look like, challenging cultural norms of masculinity, and engaging men as allies. Our Relationship Violence Prevention program has four components:
Building Healthy Relationships
Our educators are in schools, helping young people build the skills they need to treat one another with respect, and to prevent gender violence.
Engaging Men as Allies
Our Men's Leadership Initiative helps men build the skills to prevent gender harassment, and mentoring young men into healthy masculinity.

Learn more about our young men’s leadership and “Building Healthy Relationships” programs by listening to this “It’s Skokie” podcast. It features Antonio Rice (Violence Prevention Educator) and Eileen Hogan Heineman (Manager, Equity Institute Community Outreach) talking about our violence prevention and racial equity work in Skokie — programs which are available in many other communities in northeastern suburban Chicagoland.
