YWCA Evanston/North Shore to host teen dating seminar for parents

That's Not Love graphicYWCA Evanston/North Shore, which works with schools and young people in the area to promote healthy relationships, will host a virtual education session for parents titled “That’s Not Love.”The free, one-hour session will address effective ways to talk with teens and tweens about healthy and unhealthy relationships and provide resources for parents. Sessions will be offered:

  • Wednesday, February 24, from 4-5 pm
  • Thursday, February 25, from noon to 1 pm
  • Saturday, February 27, from 2-3 pm

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, and experts at YWCA Evanston/North Shore are using this as an opportunity to give parents the information and tools they need to help their children navigate dating relationships.“Most parents feel confident that they can spot the signs of an unhealthy relationship,” said Hallie Cohen, violence prevention educator at YWCA Evanston/North Shore and moderator of the sessions. “But research shows that most parents can’t correctly identify the direct signs of an abusive relationship.”To sign up and get the link, visit www.ywca-ens.org/thats-not-love.
