What We Do

Everything we do at YWCA Evanston/North Shore is based on the belief that all women have the right to be safe and choose the direction of their lives. Our programs address the fact that far too many women experience violence, and lack economic security, and these issues disproportionately impact women of color. If we want to empower all women, we must also tackle racism.

We work proactively to transform individual lives through direct service and education and to change institutions through training and advocacy.

All of our programs address three overlapping areas of focus: Racial Justice and Civil Rights, Economic Empowerment of Women, and Health and Safety for Women and Girls.

Your Mission. Our Mission.

As we get into the busy holiday season, I am so grateful to the entire YWCA Evanston/North Shore community for all the various ways you give to us and help us achieve our mission. So thank you! We couldn't do this work without you.

With gratitude this Giving Tuesday,

Cherese R. Ledet,
President & CEO

Thank you for your support to 'Every 9 Seconds''; it will help enable vital programs for survivors, their children, individuals who have caused harm, and our wider community. Domestic violence transcends economic status, race, age, gender identity, and religion. The work to end domestic violence continues long after October...that's why your generosity is truly invaluable!
