Every 9 seconds a woman in the U.S. is abused. You can help build a way out.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

For YWCA Evanston/North Shore, it is a month-long, all-out effort to raise awareness about domestic violence and funds to support survivors through our campaign, Every 9 Seconds: YWCA Challenge to End Domestic Violence.

Our new building helps us serve more survivors

Family Support CenterYou may have passed our newly expanded campus and have witnessed the amazing transformation. Many of you supported the creation of the new home for YWCA Evanston/North Shore. This journey has taken years of hard work and the unwavering support of so many.

This expansion has doubled our shelter capacity and provides more safety, security, and independence for those seeking shelter from domestic abuse. Our new Family Support Center is specifically designed to meet the needs of domestic violence survivors and their children. Our Community Support Center is available for women who are non-residential and experiencing abuse in their homes, who just want to talk to someone about their options or anyone that needs help with developing a safety plan.

We’re here 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, ready to help. If you or someone you know needs help, call 847-864-8780 or (toll free) 877-718-1868.

The Every 9 Seconds Challenge

While an expanded campus was desperately needed to serve our staff and community better, the reality of a bigger building means more staff and higher operating costs. To cover these costs, we are setting a goal for ourselves to raise $150,000 from community members, just like you.

Here are some ways to increase your impact and support emergency housing, counseling, financial education, safety planning and legal advocacy for survivors:

All new donors this October will be matched 2-1, TRIPLING the impact to YWCA and our Domestic Violence programs.

Please give now and your gift will be matched. This matching gift challenge ends on October 31st, so please don’t wait!

You can impact individuals across our communities by giving to YWCA.
Your gift provides domestic violence services, financial education, job training, and racial equity workshops. Your gift means women, children, and families will get the support they need to move forward. Your gift means hope for the future.
Ready to do more? Turn your compassion into action by making a gift today.
We’ve received a challenge grant from an anonymous funder that will match your gift dollar-for-dollar, and double your impact!
