YWCA Summer of Sex Ed: Middle School
Jun 7 @ 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

YWCA's Summer of Sex Ed FlyerComprehensive sex education is tied to concrete outcomes such as improved academic achievement, delayed sexual initiation, increased condom and contraceptive use and fewer unintended pregnancies.

Further, comprehensive sexual health education has the power to advance gender equity through dismantling stereotypes and assumptions, building self-acceptance and self-esteem, and empowering young people to build healthier relationships and prevent sexual violence.

YWCA is excited and proud to offer a community-based approach to comprehensive sex education to North Shore youth this summer.

Our middle school group will meet throughout the summer and follow the Our Whole Lives Curriculum, which covers information about puberty, sexuality, identity, and relationships that parents and children want and need, but that schools often briefly or never address.

These groups are meant to help students build peer connections after an isolating year and explore vital health related topics in a safe space. The program is free to all North Shore youth who are in (or entering) 7-9th grades. Please only register your student if they can attend most or all of the sessions.  (Download a pdf of the flyer here.) Here are the details:

Dates:

June 7th – August 18th (no class on July 5, break from July 23rd – August 4th)

Times:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 1:00-3:00 pm

Location:

Meeting in person at YWCA Evanston/North Shore
