How does race, gender, ableism, heterosexism, and ageism affect your board? This workshop explores:

  • what privilege is, who has it and how it works for them
  • how power and privilege are connected
  • how the misuse of power and privilege become oppression

Participants will explore how misuse of power and privilege play out in a board setting and what can be done to work against it.

Eileen Hogan Heineman

Eileen Heineman, Manager of Community Outreach for YWCA Equity Institute has been a racial equity facilitator and trainer for 20 years. In nine years at YWCA Evanston/North Shore, she has developed workshops and institutional training modules, and consulted with education, community and faith-based organizations, and civic groups. Eileen is trained as a Racial Healing Circle practitioner and as a facilitator for SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity).

Tracy has developed and implemented professional development for educators and community partners, supported under-resourced schools, and built vital relationships in the community. Currently, Tracy leads workshops and professional development for parents and District employees on the layered topics of race and education in Evanston.
