Stand Against Racism is a signature campaign of YWCA USA to build community among those who work for racial justice and to raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities.
The Stand Against Racism in Skokie will take place this year on Thursday, April 25 from 10:30 – 10:50 am at various sites: On Oakton Street in front of Village Hall and the Skokie Public Library; on Gross Point Road and Church Street (near Weber Center); and at various D73.5 and D69 Schools. We invite you to join the Stand as an organization, school, business or individual. Although it’s not required, you can register your group’s participation at www.standagainstracism.org. In Skokie, we will all read this pledge at 10:45 am. Feel free to make copies for your participants.
We know that these 20 minutes will not eliminate racism. But standing together in this work for equity is the ONLY way we can actually achieve the systemic changes necessary for transformation of our institutions.
