Investing for Beginners

Are you interested in investing your money but don’t know where to start? Are you unsure where to invest during during this uncertain and challenging time? In this workshop you’ll cover investment basics including:

  • custodians (where your money or securities is held ex. bank, brokerage firm)
  • quality (ex. simple, not complex, and what you pay vs. what you get)
  • asset allocation (ex. 60% stocks and 40% bonds)
  • income and expense

Please note: the majority of this workshop will be a Q&A format. Participants are encouraged to come with questions!

John McCarthy has been advising institutional and private investors for 30 years. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in Economics at Northwestern University and an Investment Council member at Evanston Community Foundation.
