“On Her Shoulders” is a riveting film that documents the persistence of Nadia Murad, a young woman who was held prisoner by the Islamic State group in Iraq and became a human rights activist. A Nobel Peace Prize winner, Murad is dedicated to helping women and children victimized by genocide, mass atrocities, and human trafficking.
Following the film, there will be a brief discussion led by Liz Drew, director of program development at Heartland Alliance International, a human rights organization based in Chicago.
